Resolution In Loving Memory And Appreciation of
Carl Ervin Williams

Life is uncertain and it is like a fleeting cloud moving across the face of the sun; two facts claim our attention – the certainty of death and the nearness of death. We are born to die, and all must die. We are in place in this world for a limited time, and with the breath of the infant begins the race to the grave. A race we must all run.

There is now a hush in our hearts as we come together to pay our respect to the loving memory of Carl Ervin Williams, whom the Almighty God in his infinite wisdom has seen fit to move from our midst to his Heavenly home to be with Him forever. On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, Carl Ervin surrendered to the call of God and transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home.

Whereas, in the providence of God, He has brought a close to the earthly life of Carl Ervin Williams, the Hallettsville Stevens Mayo Alumni Association, feel that it is befitting to express our sincere sympathy to his family and friends. We commend you to Him who knows best and will replace your sorrow with joy in knowing that your loved one has received his Heavenly reward. You have our sincere prayers and condolences.

Revelations 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.

Carl Ervin was a faithful and active member of our alumni, offering his service cheerfully helping with alumni events. He was the son of one of our founding members Vernice McAfee Williams, who also served as alumni treasurer and the sister of Beverlyn Williams Hudson who served as alumni treasurer after their mother’s passing. Carl was always willing to help his mother, Beverlyn, and the alumni wherever and whenever needed, assisting with fundraisers, decorating for events, and attending alumni events. At our alumni reunion on August 12, 2023, Carl addressed the alumni and shared with us his mother’s legacy as one of the founding members of the Hallettsville Stevens Mayo Alumni Association.

Therefore, be it resolved, to the family of Carl Ervin, we know your loss is deep and your sorrow is great, and we want you to know that we share in your sorrow, but more importantly, weacknowledge that this loss is Heaven’s gain.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help at all times.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution will be given to the family and a copy placed in the alumni records.

Humbly submitted on June 8, 2024.
