Public Schools Will Integrate The board of Trustees of the Hallettsville Independent Schol District at a called meeting on May 10, amended the existing plan on voluntary integration of public schools for 1965-66 by providing that beginning September 1st, 1966, the publiv school will desegregate the pupils and teachers in all twelve grades.

Several members of the board, the superintendent and principal of Stevens-Mayo School will go to AUstin Thursday to present tis plan to the Texas Education Agency officials for the present plan of desegregation can be accepted by the United States Office of Education

The Hallettsville Independent School District will lose and estimated $35,000 or more in federal funds for the 1965-66 term of school if the present plan cannot be approved by the Commissioner of Education in Washington D.C.

Zulah Earl Wilkins is valedictorian of the Stevens-Mayo senior class of 1965. She is a member of the Orange Grove Baptist Church in Sublime where she serves as secretary of Sunday School. She is presently the president of the senior class.
